Colors from Tindivanam

In the town of Tindivanam, Tamil Nadu, locals produce brightly colored powders used in religious ceremonies and street art such as rangoli. The process involves mixing synthetic pigments with fine sand and pressing them together using hands and feet. These humble yet vivid materials have found their way into my work over the years. This photo series captures the atmosphere and textures of that world.
